Alexander Michael Snyder S/S 2010 Fashion Show

Frida Kahlo's presence was definitely felt at Alexander Michael Snyder's debut show as the models graced the yellow catwalk showing off his spring 2010 collection. Inspired by the Mexican artist, the textures were impressive, the colors were dramatic, and the looks were polished and mature. The runway was filled with high collars, big shoulders, girly yet sophisticated lace, and bright teal and yellow leggings. Sheer materials and skinny belts made the collection sexy and modern, as well as traditional with a matronly feel. With romantic flowers wrapped into loose braids, the show took on a renaissance-like feel. Snyder may just be on to something here and we can't wait to try it out come spring. From the look on the faces of the designer's close friends in the audience, he did them proud. Job well done.

Lorick S/S 2010 Presentation

Due to the weather a last minute change to the Tribeca Grand Hotel didn't stop the crowd from viewing Abigial Lorick's collection. Three Mediums the theme of the presentation with an artist there painting the girls on a portait as they posed for the fashionista crowd. There were three sittings titled, The Watercolor, The Pastel and The Acrylic. I really enjoyed the abstract prints that was used throughout the collection or the various sittings to the pencil skirts to the full skirts mixing with crop jackets to tailored shirts the whole portait was absolutely feminine.

Rachel Antonoff S/S 2010 Presentation

Disenchanted Forest/ Enchanted Forest

There's always two sides to every girl and the Rachel Antonoff presentation showed just that. On a stage with real Ballet dancers and models showcased a delightful collection of printed tulips skirts, satin rompers and laced detailed dresses.

I had to do double take of the presentation because I enjoyed the theatrics so much I forgot I was at a fashion presentation.

Celebrate Fashion's Night Out

I still haven't figured out where I want to be during Fashion's Night Out but I think it's so important to come out and really celebrate fashion and shopping because it's so crucial to the industry right now.

So here a few retailers that will participate in Fashion's Night Out:

  • Retailers at Grand Central Terminal - Fall Fashion Preview at Tia’s Place, featuring the Quiksilver Women’s Collection and a DIY presentation with Erica Domesek of PS I Made This, Free pair of gray European glass pearl stud earrings with the purchase of $50 or more at Forever Silver, Free cocktails with personal stylists providing the latest fall fashion tips and free mini makeovers at Banana Republic. Five percent of sales that evening will be donated to the Memorial Fund for September 11th.
  • Caravan: Fashion’s Night Out Event will be co-hosted by Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects), Gabe Saporta (Cobra Starship), and Roxy Olin from “The City”.
  • Nine West at 675 Fifth Avenue will have a live acoustic performance by the Third Eye Blind
  • DKNY: on Madison Avenue will have supermodel Coco Rocha performing an Irish dance with her troop of 8
  • Lilly Pulitzer: on Madison Avenue will have Design Director Janie Schoenborn as she dishes out style tips and talk about the fall trends.

Other Venues during NY Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is just around the corner and while for the past few years the Bryant Park Tents has been the haven for bloggers like myself, it's not the only place this time around.
  • The Hautelook lounge located in the penthouse of the Bryant Hotel will feature previews of Alvin Valley, Lula Frost Spring 2010 collection and others. However the best part to the Lounge is the free Wi-Fi. That's right no more shaky connection at the Tents try the Wi-Fi.

Style360 which is partnered with Hachette Filipacchi Media, will feature new and emerging designers from September 12th-15th. All the fashion shows including my favorite Geren Ford will be located at the Metropolitan Pavilion in the fashionable Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

Next week is going to be exciting I can not wait for the new ideas and news concepts for fashion.

Quote for the Day

I don't watch any of the shows about fashion... I get my fashion at the office. I don't need to see it anywhere else.
